Our agency client is seeking a temp Performance Marketing Specialist that brings a creator mindset to performance marketing, blending data, media, and storytelling to drive measurable impact. This role will support our Performance Marketing and Media team.
This is a one‑month remote contract role, with preference given to candidates located in Chicago or Milwaukee.
Job Overview With advanced media planning expertise and strong analytical capabilities, the Performance Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing and executing full‑funnel media strategies, partnering directly with clients, and leveraging platforms like Google Analytics 4 to uncover insights, define audiences, and optimize performance. The role blends strategic thinking, client partnership, and hands‑on analysis to translate data into action and drive continuous improvement across campaigns. A detail‑oriented, execution‑focused approach is essential to deliver high‑performing, insight‑driven work reflecting our mission of motion, optimism, and energy.
Responsibilities Support the development and execution of cross‑channel media strategies across paid social, search, programmatic, and other digital platforms.
Translate business goals into tactical, full‑funnel media plans (awareness, consideration, conversion).
Assist in defining channel roles, budget allocation, and KPI frameworks.
Identify opportunities to improve reach, efficiency, and overall campaign performance.
Contribute to ongoing optimizations based on performance data and insights.
Leverage Google Analytics 4 and platform data to analyze performance and uncover actionable insights.
Build and manage audience segments within GA4.
Conduct funnel and pathing analysis to understand user behavior.
Support conversion tracking validation and troubleshoot measurement issues.
Analyze GA4, CRM, and media platform data to identify performance drivers, drop‑off points, and optimization opportunities.
Translate data into clear insights and recommendations for campaign improvement.
Support the development and execution of audience targeting strategies, utilizing first‑party data, behavioral signals, and platform‑native audiences.
Help translate insights into targeting, creative inputs, and sequencing strategies.
Assist in implementing audience builds and data integrations (e.g., CDPs, onboarding).
Monitor audience performance and recommend refinements.
Support client communications and contribute to building strong client relationships.
Assist in preparing performance reports, insights, and presentations.
Communicate key findings and recommendations in a clear, concise manner.
Support the execution of testing plans and optimization roadmaps.
Execute and support ongoing campaign optimization and testing initiatives.
Implement and monitor structured tests across creative, audiences, and landing pages.
Track performance against KPIs (CPA, CPL, ROAS, conversion rate).
Identify optimization opportunities and make data‑driven recommendations.
Support decisions to scale, adjust, or pause campaigns based on performance.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Deep expertise in Google Analytics 4 (Explorations, event tracking, audience creation, attribution).
Strong understanding of paid media channels, including Meta, Google, and programmatic platforms.
Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
Proficiency in performance analysis, including funnel analysis, attribution, and optimization techniques.
Experience developing and refining audience targeting strategies using first‑party and behavioral data.
Strong communication and presentation skills, simplifying complex concepts for clients and stakeholders.
Detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
Education and Experience 4–5+ years of experience in performance marketing, media strategy, or digital analytics.
Experience working in client‑facing roles within an agency or similar environment.
Familiarity with tools such as Looker Studio, Skai, Salesforce or HubSpot, Yahoo DSP, and Shopify.
Exposure to data integrations, including CDPs, APIs, or data‑warehouse environments.
Experience in e‑commerce, hospitality, or lead‑generation industries is a plus.
Bachelor's degree in media, marketing, or related field preferred.
