Role: Pay Per Click (PPC) Manager
This is a hybrid role, with preference given to local candidates and the expectation of two days per week in the office at our Wauwatosa, WI location.
Reports to: Director of PPC
Role Summary The PPC Manager is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive, data‑driven digital advertising strategies and campaigns across multiple channels, including search, display, shopping, social, video, and more. A successful candidate will possess a strong foundation in performance marketing with a growth mindset.
Core Responsibilities Campaign Setup & Management Conduct keyword, audience and competitor research to develop PPC plans.
Create campaigns, ad sets, and ads across the full funnel on various networks, platforms and objectives.
Develop original, relevant, high‑quality advertising copy and related creative assets.
Manage all aspects of daily optimization for all active campaigns (budgets, bid strategies, targeting, structure, creatives, etc.).
Utilize software and tools to improve ad ops, including Ads Editor, Sheets, scripts, and more.
Maintain logs of key decisions, changes made and their outcomes.
Propose and implement tests of settings, features, campaign types, structures, formats, audiences, bidding to drive improved outcomes.
Use performance, platform, market research and user journey insights to drive recommendations and novel concepts for testing.
Consistently and independently dedicate effort to learning, growth & credentials to improve capabilities and effectiveness.
Analysis & Reporting Monitor campaigns daily, utilizing platform dashboards, Sheets & GA4 to track budget pacing, spot anomalies and errors, and ensure foundational tracking elements are functioning properly.
Conduct thorough analyses of PPC campaign performance reports to understand what’s happening, the root cause, why it matters, and what to do now.
Draft high quality written reporting with outcomes, insights, trends and recommended next steps without the use of AI assistance.
Integrate and interpret various data sources to get more holistic perspectives on issues and opportunities.
Deeply understand platform campaign types, media, formats, objectives, bidding, and other mechanics influencing results at a first principles level.
Develop in‑platform campaign strategies to achieve client goals and business objectives while following documented SOPs.
Consistently apply principles & mental models to drive selection and methodology choices.
Understand the benefits and limitations of machine learning, LLMs and AI tools and apply them narrowly and effectively when appropriate.
Client Communication Triage and expedite inbound communications to provide an excellent customer experience.
Provide written & verbal responses to inbound communications in area(s) of expertise.
Contribute to client meetings in area(s) of expertise, providing insight and recommendations.
Confidently present key findings to internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications 2-3+ years of hands‑on PPC experience with self‑serve Google Ads and Microsoft Ads campaigns, preferably in an agency setting (managing multiple client accounts)
Passion for PPC with a desire to work in accounts day‑to‑day
Experience managing significant (5‑figure+) monthly budgets across platforms with successful business outcomes
Experience with advertising lead generation & eCommerce brands
Experience across campaign types, especially Performance Max, AI Max, Demand Gen, Search, Shopping, Display, YouTube
Experience in data analysis and reporting with Google Analytics 4, Looker Studio, Google Sheets, and other reporting/visualization tools
Strategic, systems & principles‑based thinker with the ability to develop and execute innovative PPC strategies
Excellent oral and written communication skills
College education in a relevant field or equivalent experience
Target Compensation: $65,000 – $76,000 annually including competitive base and profit sharing, dependent on experience
