About the Role

The Managed Marketing Specialist helps our members grow their retail sales and transactions by assisting them in designing and implementing a consumer-focused marketing program designed to increase store traffic, top‑line sales, and profitability. This position will work with our members, corporate staff, and vendors who assist us in creating and distributing marketing materials, including print, digital, and website presence, and promotional in‑store elements. Managed Marketing Specialists will use consumer data and POS data to develop these plans, so an aptitude and enthusiasm for a data‑driven approach will be important.

This position serves as the primary point of contact for assigned brands of members, acting as the key liaison and strategist between those specific members and the Do it Best Marketing division.

Responsibilities

Consult with assigned members on brand strategy, Do it Best programs, promotions, and marketing communications

Maintain working knowledge of marketing platforms, analytics, ecommerce, and Do it Best marketing tools

Lead branding workshops in partnership with the Graphics team for all brands served

Develop annual promotional plans and marketing budgets for each brand served

Execute marketing plans and coordinate with internal teams to support managed marketing services

Build data‑driven strategies to improve marketing performance

Design custom circulars using POS data and best practices, when applicable

Plan, order, and optimize the distribution of promotional components

Manage retail marketing suites and campaign schedules for members

Advise members on content, creative, and campaign ideation

Partner with members to manage Facebook pages and promote in‑store events

Recommend promotional merchandise, including product selection and quantities

Analyze and report promotion performance using data and analytics tools

Special projects as assigned by the Managed Marketing Supervisor

Education and Experience

Minimum

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or equivalent experience

Strong project management skills—able to manage multiple projects and hit deadlines.

Proven track record of developing & executing marketing budgets and plans.

Consumer-focused marketing experience with printed material, digital advertising, basic website design, email, social media, and loyalty programs.

Proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and Analytics Programs

Desired

Experience supporting independent retailers or small business owners to plan & execute marketing plans

Experience in retail, sales, hardware, home improvement, lumber, or related retail industries is a plus

Experience working in a marketing agency environment is a plus

Graphic Design and/or Social Media experience preferred

Skills and Abilities

Minimum

Ability to consult with members/retailers, gain buy‑in, and close the sale

Good organizational and communication skills

Ability to work creatively and well with others

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and take initiative to meet deadlines

Ability to review and effectively interpret data from multiple sources

Desired

Understanding of retail operations and retail marketing concepts

Previous work in service of small retail businesses
